The Proposal: When We Got Engaged

December 13, 2007

I was at home doing Christmas cards in my workout clothes since I had just come from the gym. Charlie had just come to my apartment after frantically figuring out a way to propose and calling my parents in the Philippines for permission. He coolly came in and said he had an early Christmas/birthday present that he wanted to give me before we went to the Philippines. It was a small Crate and Barrel box with a ribbon tied around it. I opened the box to find within the tissue paper a small ring box. Charlie shot down on one knee, started tearing up and shaking while asking, "Kristin, will you marry me?" I yelled "Of course!" as I too, started crying and got down on the ground with Charlie, hugging and kissing him. We subsequently celebrated with a bottle of champagne Charlie had bought just minutes before.
